Beliefs
I know a lot of people don't understand a passion for animal advocacy/rights/welfare. They think time shouldn't be wasted on animal issues when there are human issues to be solved. Well, the way I look at it there are already over six billion voices willing to speak up about human issues, a few of those won't be missed. But why should we refocus time and resources on animal issues?
To me it is simple, all I have to do is look an animal in the eyes and I make an instant connection. I know their life is as intrinsically valuable as any persons, thus deserving of time and resources. Even without meeting an animal, I know this, but I understand this is not true for everyone. Many still see animals as a resource, as property. That has to change. Until that changes the animal rights movement will struggle.
